I go by many names, so call me by the name you know me by. I’ll try to answer you all.
I wear many hats. Some are too big; I’m still growing into them. Some are too small, or else my head is too big.
I am a chef because that’s the career I fell into after high-school, starting as a dishwasher and working my way up to sous-chef before changing careers at age 30. I still like good food, but my tiny kitchen frustrates me, so I don’t cook as much or as extravagantly as I used to.
I am a teacher, because I always wanted to be one, and I love the English language. I get to meet interesting people and help them improve their skills, for their professional as well as their personal lives.
I am a writer because I was always told by my teachers that I was one growing up. It took me getting over my fears two years ago, around my fortieth birthday. I discovered that they were right.
I’m an author because somebody told me I wasn’t, so I started calling myself that as a way of telling the naysayers to go piss up a rope.
And this is my blog. This is a home for writing that doesn’t have a home yet, pieces I don’t intend to publish, thoughts on books, music, movies, food, spiritual ponderings perhaps, etc. I’ll do my best to keep it interesting and avoid spilling big baskets of crazy all over the place.
And here we go…
